The Lone Star Coastal Alliance is a grassroots coalition of local governments, businesses, community organizations, conservation groups, and civic leaders working across five Upper Texas Gulf Coast counties, Jefferson, Chambers, Galveston, Brazoria, and Matagorda, to advance the proposed Lone Star Coastal National Recreation Area (LSCNRA).
The proposed LSCNRA is a Texas-led, partnership-based effort designed to elevate the national significance of the Upper Texas Gulf Coast while expanding recreation and public access, strengthening coastal conservation and resilience, supporting working lands and heritage, and enhancing long-term economic vitality across the region.
By connecting the region’s extraordinary environmental, cultural, recreational, and historical assets, the initiative aims to attract outdoor recreation enthusiasts and heritage travelers, strengthen tourism economies, support rural and coastal communities, and help position the Upper Texas Coast as one of the nation’s great coastal destinations.
